About EAN-13
EAN-13 is the standard 13-digit retail barcode used in most international consumer markets. It represents a GTIN allocated through GS1.
Use an assigned retail number and preserve the quiet zones, guard bars and human-readable digits required by your retailer.
Practical implementation notes
Retail barcodes identify an item; they do not create a product number. Obtain the GTIN or UPC from your GS1 organization, brand owner or retailer, then place the barcode on a flat, high-contrast area of the pack. Avoid seams, folds, glossy glare and curved areas where possible.
